The respected band leader of the Ghanaian traditional / indigenous music band known as THE WAZUMBIANS has called for calm and unity in the ongoing public controversy surrounding the late music icon Daddy Lumba, urging all sides to prioritise peace so that the legend’s funeral can be held without further delay.
Speaking in an interview on Voice of the Nation TV, hosted by Barry Murphy and Jerry K, he addressed the tension involving Akosua Serwaa, Odo Bronii, and Papa Shee, which has generated intense debate in the media and among music lovers.
According to him, the most important matter at this moment is to give Daddy Lumba the honour he deserves.
“The families and both wives should let peace prevail for Daddy Lumba’s funeral to take place first,” he said.
“After we lay him to rest, then they can sit down and solve their differences.”
He emphasised that the legacy of a national treasure must not be overshadowed by conflict:
“No matter the issues, respect must be given to the dead. Daddy Lumba deserves a peaceful funeral.”
The artist was also asked about his position on Papa Shee, who has made several public comments regarding the dispute. His response was direct and firm.
“With the way Papa Shee is handling issues now, I will never make him my friend,” he stated.
He expressed disappointment with the tone and approach Papa Shee is using in the matter, adding that emotional and sensitive moments like this require discretion and maturity.
He further encouraged the Ghanaian music industry to learn from global standards, where even personal disagreements are put aside to honour the dead and protect artistic legacies.
“We have to grow. The world is watching. We must show unity and respect,” he added.
The interview has since attracted attention on social media, with viewers praising his calmness, wisdom and emotional intelligence during the discussion.
Daddy Lumba’s funeral arrangements are expected to continue, and the artist hopes that peace and understanding will prevail as fans prepare to pay their final tribute to one of Ghana’s most influential musical icons.
